2018 ALA Development Weekend and AGM

The ALA will be holding their 2018 Development Weekend and 2018 AGM  November 16-18, 2018.

This meeting will be held at the Banff Park Lodge, Banff Alberta.

Tentative Schedule - 

Friday - ALA BOD Meeting,  ALA Social 

Saturday - Development Meetings, ALA Banquet 

Sunday - ALA AGM

Please use your Group ID # (27731) and the Password # (558). This information can be forwarded to your attendees. 2018 AGM Guest Speaker

Shawnee Harle - Winning Matters. Because it does.

Shawnee is a two-time Olympian as an Assistant Coach for the Canadian Women’s Basketball Team and is the most highly certified basketball coach in Canada. She has 25 years of elite coaching and leadership experience including the Olympic Games, World Championships, FIBA Americas and World University Games. Shawnee holds a Master’s Degree in Coaching Studies, and she is also a Master Learning Facilitator for the National Coaching Certification Program where she trains and mentors both advanced and novice coaches from all sports.

Sport, just like life, is tough. It is full of problems, frustrations, and disappointments and Shawnee’s Mental Toughness Training is helping athletes, coaches and parents from all sports learn to understand and tackle these problems. Mental Toughness - How Champions are Built is not only impacting results but more importantly, changing lives.

Since winning matters not only in sport but also in business, Shawnee has become a sought-after corporate coach, life coach, 1 on 1 coach, and motivational speaker. Her vast experience in the elite world of sports transfers directly to the boardroom where success is talent oriented and people driven. She is currently training corporate managers to become wise and insightful while leading their team to winning results. Leaders are raising the bar for themselves and their people after taking Shawnee’s sessions: Transform Managers into Leaders, and Ignite the Leader Within.


 

ALA Bylaw 1.05 Definitions - 

42) “Voting Member” means any amateur lacrosse team within the boundaries of the ALA.

4.05 QUORUM

A majority (51%) of the Members in good standing and present in person or via Proxy vote shall form a quorum at the Annual Meeting or Special Meeting.

In the event that a majority of the Members are not present within one (1) hour of the hour given in the Notice of the said meeting, the chairperson of the meeting

shall adjourn the meeting to date and time not less than twenty-one (21) days from the date of the original meeting. The Vice President of Administration via the

ALA Office shall give seven (7) days written notice to the Members of the date and place to which the meeting has been adjourned.

A quorum for the adjourned meeting shall be one less than a majority.

8.09.3 PROXY VOTING

No member of the Executive Committee shall be entitled to send a person to represent them or vote on their behalf at a meeting of the Executive or the Board of Directors.

Any other Director, shall be entitled to appoint, in writing, a person to attend a meeting of the Board of Directors to represent him/her and cast a vote on his/her behalf

provided that such representative shall be a member of the Board of the Local Governing Body or the ALRA.

ALL Members must be in Good Standing

Bylaw 1.05 - Definition (27) Member in Good Standing” shall mean a Member who is not in arrears in any payments owing to the ALA or the CLA or whose rights have not been suspended

The ALA Strongly suggests the proxy form be used to proxy the team vote to the Club President.
