New Interim Director of High Performance Appointed

Welcome Heidi Bates

The ALA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Heidi Bates as Interim Director of High Performance.

Heidi comes to the ALA with a wealth of experience at the Executive and managerial levels, particularly on the women’s Field lacrosse side where she currently serves as VP - Women’s Field Lacrosse for the Alberta Field Lacrosse Association (AFLA), and Lacrosse Canada Sector Chair for Women’s Field lacrosse.

Among other things, Heidi's responsibilities within the ALA include the following:

• Ensure the organization and administration of ALA teams to National competitions.
• Ensure the organization and administration of ALA Provincial competitions.
• Attend National competitions, or appoint a representative as required.
• Consult with the ALA Board of Directors to determine who will receive ALA endorsement for the hosting of National competitions in Alberta.
• Ensure sanctioning of ALA teams travelling outside of Alberta for competition.

In her professional career Heidi serves as a Professor in the Nutrition Department at the University of Alberta. She states, “I am an experienced leader, manager, and administrator with more than 20 years of experience teaching and working in the health sciences at the post-secondary level.
