Nov. 04, 2019

Alberta Lacrosse is excited to announce the Head Coaches that will lead the Team Alberta Midget programs for the next two years in preparation for the 2021 Canada Games.

Team Alberta Midget (16U) Male—Philip Smyth

Philip Smyth grew up in Edmonton playing box and field lacrosse. He played his minor Lacrosse for the Gold Bar Miners and the Millwoods Warriors. Smyth played major lacrosse for the Edmonton Miners and the Edmonton/Sherwood Park Outlaws. Smyth was lucky enough to win seven consecutive Provincial Titles as a player with the Outlaws from 2002-2008 and two National Championships. Smyth started coaching Lacrosse with an Edmonton Warriors Pee Wee team in 2003. He progressed to coaching a Sherwood Park Titans Midget team in 2005 and eventually landed as the defensive coach with the Edmonton Eclipse Jr. A club from 2006-2009. Since 2008, Smyth has worked for Alberta Lacrosse and the National Coaching Certification Program as a Learning Facilitator and Coach Evaluator, while also serving as the Head Coach for several successful Bantam Female Team Alberta teams.

Team Alberta Midget (16U) Female—Dallas Smith

Dallas Smith is a product of the Sherwood Park Titans organization, where he played his minor box lacrosse. Smith comes to the Midget Girls Team Alberta program with twenty plus years of lacrosse experience, including NCAA playing experience with the Binghamton Bearcats, a Division I school in upstate New York, where he graduated in 2015. In addition to playing experience, Smith has a strong coaching and technical background serving as the Head Coach for DHC Hannover, the Executive Director for Manitoba Lacrosse, a current NCCP Learning Facilitator/Coach Evaluator/Master Coach Developer (for box lacrosse, men’s field lacrosse, and women’s field lacrosse), the 2019 Team Alberta U-15 Head Coach, and current Lacrosse Program Director at Vimy Edmonton.

Alberta Lacrosse is excited about the selection of both individuals, as the Team Alberta program looks to continue its success this year and into the 2021 Canada Games.
