Re: Reduced Coaching Certification Requirements for 2021 Season Regulations Impacted: 25.13, 37.04, and 38.04
Date: 18-Feb-2021

Hello Members,

The following resolutions were brought forth by the GELC and have been approved by the ALA Board of Directors via email ballot as of February 18, 2021.

These resolutions are now in effect and will be integrated into the next publishing of the ALA Regulations, which can currently be downloaded at http://www.albertalacrosse.com/content/bylaws-and-regulations, or direct download at https://bit.ly/2M6BTSs.

These regulation modifications ease the coaching requirements for the 2021 season which the ALA Board of Directors hopes will help offset the challenges placed on our coaches to meet standard coaching certification requirements for the 2021 season because of COVID-19. Specifically, the requirement to have a Competitive Introduction In-Training coach or higher at all ALA sanctioned events has been reduced to a Community Development In-Training coach.

The following regulation has been added and is now in effect for the 2021 season:

25.13 In 2021, due to COVID, coaches may be Community Development In Training (attend classroom) and complete the Making Head Way NCCP module to be eligible to coach at all levels of lacrosse.

The following regulations have been edited and are now in effect for the 2021 season:

37.04 All ALA Sanctioned events MUST have at least one Community Development In Training coach (attend classroom) or higher, who is at least18 years of age and has completed the Making Head Way NCCP module. All coaches must be duly registered in RAMP. The Head Coach is responsible for adhering to the Alberta Lacrosse Association framework for Return to Activity and Alberta Government health orders.

38.04 All ALA Sanctioned events MUST have at least one Community Development In Training coach (attend classroom) or higher, who is at least18 years of age and has completed the Making Head Way NCCP module. All coaches must be duly registered in RAMP. The Head Coach is responsible for adhering to the Alberta Lacrosse Association framework for Return to Activity and Alberta Government health orders.
