NEWS RELEASE - Alberta Lacrosse Association Announces Appointment of Brent Robinson as Executive Director

Edmonton, AB - January 24, 2025 - The Alberta Lacrosse Association (ALA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent Robinson as its new Executive Director. This decision follows an extensive and thorough search process, in which the ALA Board engaged the services of a third-party professional to assist in identifying the most qualified candidate for this critical leadership role.

With a deep-rooted passion for lacrosse and a proven background in volunteer leadership, Robinson is well-positioned to guide the ALA through its next phase of growth and success. His selection comes after a careful evaluation of his experience, leadership skills, and alignment with the ALA’s mission and vision.

Robinson brings a wealth of expertise in governance, strategic planning, and organizational management, making him an ideal fit for the position. His longstanding commitment to Alberta's lacrosse community, including
leadership roles with the Okotoks Raiders Lacrosse Association and the Alberta Lacrosse Association, underscores his dedication to the sport.

As a Town Councillor in Okotoks and a practicing lawyer, Robinson has developed valuable skills in financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, strategic decision-making, and policy development. His background in law, with a focus on employment law and general litigation, as well as his experience managing budgets and leading teams, will be instrumental in overseeing the administration of the ALA and supporting its long-term objectives.

“I am thrilled to take on the role of Executive Director with the Alberta Lacrosse Association,” said Robinson. “Lacrosse has given me so much, and I am excited to help it continue to grow and thrive across the province. My
experiences, both as a volunteer and in my professional life, have prepared me to serve the ALA’s members and work collaboratively to enhance the sport’s accessibility and presence for all Albertans.”

Robinson’s leadership experience also extends to his role as Director of Administration with the Alberta Lacrosse Association, where he was responsible for preparing financial reports, overseeing policies and procedures, and
managing the Discipline/Appeal Committee. His previous positions with the Okotoks Raiders Lacrosse Association as President and Treasurer further demonstrate his ability to navigate organizational transitions, manage financial
challenges, and engage with the community to drive the sport forward.

“Brent's appointment is a pivotal moment for the Alberta Lacrosse Association,” said Sean Aggus, President of the ALA. “The thorough search process, aided by expert external support, has led us to a candidate whose
combination of professional and volunteer experience makes him uniquely qualified to lead the ALA. We are confident that his leadership will bring the stability and vision needed to further the growth of lacrosse at all levels
in Alberta.”

As Executive Director, Robinson will begin his new role on February 10, 2025, and will work closely with the ALA’s Board, staff, and the wider lacrosse community to drive the continued growth of the sport in Alberta. His key
priorities will include strengthening player development programs, fostering greater community engagement, and offering enhanced support to volunteers, coaches, and athletes throughout the province.
