Coaching Workbook Reminder and Certification Update
Hello Members,
A reminder to coaches who took the Competition Introduction clinic in 2022, any sector, your workbooks were due December 31, 2022. Please ensure they're completed and submitted to Lacrosse Canada (via the NCCP Lacrosse website) so as to not impact your eligibility to coach for the upcoming season.
Competition Introduction Certification Update
For the 2023 season, the ALA will be re-introducing and enforcing the requirement for coaches to take the Make Ethical Decisions (MED) eLearning module as part of the Competition Introduction Trained status*. MED Online Evaluation is still required, but as part of becoming Competition Introduction Certified. To confirm, the Competition Introduction certification now re-looks like this:
- Complete course, then you will be IN-TRAINING.
- Complete Competition Introduction online workbook, complete multi-sport eLearning module Make Ethical Decisions, complete multi-sport eLearning module Making Head Way, then you will be TRAINED.
- Complete Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation, have practice evaluated in-person by Coach Evaluator, then you will be CERTIFIED.
Multi-sport
Make Ethical Decisions eLearning module is only offered as an online (four-hour) workshop in Alberta. A list of workshop dates and times can be found at
https://albertasport.ca/coaching/nccp-multi-sport-module-calendar/. The cost is $85, but the
MED Online Evaluation will be free.
*Coaches who have attained Competition Introduction Trained (or above) status as of December 31, 2022 without taking the eLearning module
Make Ethical Decisions will not be required to go back and take it.
