IMPORTANT UPDATE: U17 Female Prairie Cup Program Cancellation
We regret to inform our lacrosse community that the U17 Female Prairie Cup tryouts scheduled for June 7th have been canceled, and the program will not run for the 2026 season.

Why This Decision Was Made
Recently, both Manitoba and Saskatchewan advised the Alberta Lacrosse Association (ALA) that they are unable to field U17 Female teams for this year's Prairie Cup.
Over the past month, the ALA exhausted every possible avenue to find replacement teams and explore alternative competition opportunities. Despite our best efforts to salvage the program, we have been unable to secure suitable opponents.

What This Means For Registered Athletes
Program Status: The U17 Female Prairie Cup program is officially canceled for 2026.

Refunds: All registered participants will receive a full refund. This will be processed automatically this week and returned to the original payment method used during registration.

A Note to Our Athletes:  We understand how incredibly disappointing this news is for the athletes who were looking forward to competing and representing Alberta. This difficult decision was not made lightly, and we deeply appreciate your understanding as we worked through every possible option before reaching this conclusion.

If you have any questions regarding your refund or future programming, please contact the Alberta Lacrosse Association office.

The ALA will send at least 10 teams to the Prairie Cup in Red Deer. This competition serves as a vital stepping stone for players preparing for advanced high-performance competition. This year, Alberta will be represented by:

  • Two female and two co-ed U13 teams
  • Two female and two co-ed U15 teams
  • Co-ed U17 team
The ALA, in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association and the Manitoba Lacrosse Association, is proud to support a regional tournament designed to prepare athletes for the national stage. By aligning with the LTAD pathways, this initiative offers valuable regional competition and increased opportunities for athlete development across Alberta. With multiple teams representing the province, this collaboration strengthens both grassroots participation and high-performance growth.
We’re gearing up for Prairie Cup 2026!
